SYNTAX DECAYS
Rust Dyed Cotton, Fish Hooks, Wire

In this work, I am exploring how a singular act can be both nurturing and violent. Steel is wrapped in vinegar-soaked cotton, leaving a rust stain - a permanent indication of a transitory process. The gridded weave of the cotton gives structure to these markings that highlight the poignancy of the process’s decay.

This was installed on the roof of the San Francisco Art Institute in 2022.
